Rolling Point

Resilience Through Contact

A Podcast on Cultivating Resilience Through Artistic Practice

Rolling Point celebrates the radical potential of movement and creativity (with a special focus on the transformative dance form of Contact Improvisation (CI)) as tools for cultivating resilience. Aaron Brandes (Brando) with guest co-hosts, invite you to drop in with renowned artists and dancers to share techniques, practices, and insights from contemporary somatic practices, offering a lens to navigate the complexities of the urgent questions shaping our times.

For me, Contact Improvisation has been a continuous source of inspiration. It has taught me to soften my impact on others, to access support from the structure of my body, and to embrace the vast possibilities in each moment. This practice trains instincts, fosters a deep sense of relationship, and, most importantly, cultivates empathy. It invites participants to listen to their bodies, sharpen their attention, and explore the physics of mass and momentum, gravity and suspension, stillness and disorientation. Through this, CI opens doorways into consciousness, using physical sensation and relationship as a pathway to greater awareness. Through Rolling Point, I hope to share this lineage and its metaphors, offering listeners a space to connect, reflect, and find their own pathways to resilience.

Join us as we engage with leading voices such as Keith Hennessey, Ishmael Houston-Jones, Mayfield Brooks, Frey Faust, and Kirstie Simson, among others.
