VIDAM 2026: 2nd & 4th Mondays

Karuna Yoga Sanctuary, 25 Main St. Northampton, MA

January 26 / February 9 and 23 / March 9 and 23 /
April 13 and 27 / May 11 and 25 etc.

For close to 20 years, VIDAM has existed as a bi-weekly collective movement improvisation experiment. Curated sound textures and electronic compositions by DJ Brando, with occasional live music accompaniment, create an atmosphere for experimentation and play. Drawing from Contact Improvisation, dance, and composition, it is a space where shared attention and individual choice unfold together. What emerges feels less like a fixed form and more like an evolving practice shaped by presence, curiosity, and care.

There is minimal structure and a few implicit agreements, inviting each person to find their own way while staying in relationship with the room. Through focused witnessing, composition arises naturally, making room for a non-ordinary way of being together.

I am deeply grateful for this community and for the continuity that keeps bringing us back. As a parent with limited capacity, it means a great deal to have a space I can arrive to, trust, and continue discovering alongside others.

Special thanks to Jason Woofenden and to everyone who helps hold and shape this container.

January 16: Pollinate

2026 we are making some changes!!!

*** A new venue = Studio #444, Fitzwillys bld. Northampton (up one flight from Karuna)

*** A new time slot (3rd Fridays)

I am feeling grateful and energized stepping into this next chapter. Working alongside Timbre, Erica and a solid crew of Pollinate help is gift. We share a vision for an inclusive dance that highlights a variety of music and vibes!

Moving Pollinate to studio #444 feels like a homecoming. This space holds over a decade of Pollinate history and offers many improvements including better acoustics, and outside room to gather, linger, and connect off the dance floor. Pollinate is a hub and the social energy around the space feels important and nourishing.

Resistance Support & Wellbeing:

An Immersive Therapeutic and Somatic Workshop

with Gabi Revlock & Brando (Aaron Brandes)

LINK TO REGISTRATION

This immersive workshop explores the therapeutic and relational possibilities of Contact Improvisation (CI), Authentic Movement (AM), Restorative Contact and other somatic and contemplative movement practices. Rooted in both clinical and creative lineages, this experience is designed for those drawn to the intersections of movement, therapeutic practice, and relational exploration.

Together, we’ll engage in structured and improvisational practices that emphasize:

  • Reciprocal touch and weight-sharing

  • Somatic witnessing

  • Emotional safety and creative risk-taking

Through CI, we will explore practices such as compression, tone modulation, and productive resistance as pathways toward somatic intelligence and attunement. Authentic Movement sessions will include guided practice and theoretical framing, drawing from depth psychology and active imagination. Additional Restorative Contact practices will support nervous system and co-regulation. This workshop also weaves in elements of sharing circles, guided writing, and small group reflection to foster mutual support and embodied integration.

Somatic Yoga

Somatic Yoga blends the philosophy and practice of yoga with somatic exploration, helping you listen to and trust your body’s innate wisdom. The practice encourages mindful movement, adapting to your body’s needs while deepening your physical and personal connection.

Focusing on grounding, dynamic movement, and fascia-based principles, Somatic Yoga nourishes joints, strengthens connective tissue, and promotes healthy movement. Through inward listening and individual expression, you’ll explore movement as an inquiry, discovering new ways to move with authenticity, grace and ease.

This practice balances between guidance and freedom, offering a nurturing space to learn nourishing movement patterns. Accessible to all levels, Somatic Yoga supports greater presence, body awareness, and emotional connection, empowering you to expand your movement potential and embrace your body’s wisdom.
